An Opera Fusion tribute concert will celebrate the memory of founding board member and emerging artists’ patron Renée Greenberg, of Palm Beach Gardens. It will feature many of the singers Mrs. Greenberg mentored, accompanied by the church’s music director, Don Cannarozzi, on piano. The concert will be held June 27 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Delray Beach, 33 Gleason Street. Admission is free.
A lover of all things opera and particularly all things Puccini, Mrs. Greenberg took such a deep interest in helping young singers with scholarships that the company named its “bootcamp” The Renée Greenberg Emerging Artists Project. She attended more than merely every Opera Fusion show — she was at every rehearsal for every show, hosted fundraising parties at her Palm Beach Gardens home, served on the company’s board of directors and mentored many singers.
Mezzo-Soprano Erika Vasallo will sing Cruda sorte! from L’Italiana in Algeri by Rossini and the Così fan tutte trio, as well as opera ensemble pieces such as Va pensiero.
